Synopsis:
This is a story of love . . . and zombies.

When eighteen-year-old college freshman Christian discovers his dormitory is crawling with the living dead, he knows he has a problem. But once he learns the whole country is overrun by the flesh-eating horde, he must race to protect what matters to him most.

Sixteen-year-old Iris, the girl he loves, is stranded eighty miles away, alone and completely unaware of the gruesome threat surrounding her.

Christian’s plan is to evade the zombies, drive the distance to rescue Iris, and get them both to his family farm—where there are guns, fuel, and everything else they’ll need to survive. His mission seems simple: Get the girl, get to the farm, and stay alive.

Things get complicated when Christian is forced to make an unthinkable choice between Iris and his family. Someone he loves must die, and he must decide.

Purchase:

I'm not much into reading about zombies, I'd rather watch them on the walking dead. However, this book has made it worth while and I don't regret reading it at all! My Heart pounded the entire time I was reading, I could feel it thudding in my chest at every turn of the page, waiting for the unexpected. The characters were fabulous, I enjoyed them from the beginning and mourned with the main character as he lost those close to him. The plot definitely reminded me of a zombie apocalypse scenario. I reared at every twist and turn, and was actually terrified for about an hour after I read this that a zombie was waiting for me down the street. The only thing I wish was different was that it was a little longer but you take what you get, and I got a lot from a little.

Favorite Quotes:

"Though I'd always hated running, apparently I was quite capable in a life-or-death situation."

"He'd found his final rest with his eyes to the sky."

"After the wedding, Prince Charming gets a beer gut, forgets the princess, and starts leaving the castle every night to go out with his friends."

"You're like a dream I never could've had. A perfect vision I could not conceive."

All in All:
I really enjoyed this book, with the suspense and just the right touch of romance this book definitely made me feel a little different about reading about zombies.

  1. Funny I'm the opposite! I love books but watching zombies shows or movies are not my favorite. I find books are more character driven and on the screen it's all about the action. Glad you liked it, though! :)
